A passion project. A labour of love…

Not everyone at Cargo loves football (but a fair few do); It’s fair to say not everyone at Cargo loves Newcastle United; But there is an undeniable respect for what Alan Shearer achieved across the course of his career at Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle.

We were naturally over the moon to be asked to work alongside event organisers Danny Mitchell (Change FR) and Alan himself in April 2022 when the 260 Dinner was announced – a celebration of the record breaking achievements of the Premier League’s and Newcastle United’s greatest ever goal scorer.

Creative freedom was granted, but the last thing we wanted to do was follow a tried and tested black and white only route. We drew inspiration from one of the shirt design’s Alan wore whilst at Newcastle, and images that signify milestone’s throughout his career. We directed an illustrative and typographical route which gave us the opportunity to produce collateral that would set the tone of the evening and be reflective of the glittering career we were celebrating.
